Or, hop on a boat and enjoy island hopping and snorkel some beautiful untouched waters with a delicious picnic hamper to enjoy on a secluded beach. Even touring by car and boat to take in the views will satisfy your soul with the beauty of these untouched Fijian islands.

Taveuni Island's Bouma National Park
- Tavoro Waterfalls -
Pristine rainforest covers much of the island of Taveuni. About 80% of this is protected by forest reserve and the Bouma National Heritage Park.
The Tavoro Waterfalls, popularly know as "Bouma Falls", are the most accessible waterfalls of Taveuni's hundreds of waterfalls and a "must do" for visitors to Taveuni Island.
In total there are three waterfalls. The lower waterfall, which is also the most spectacular of the three, is over 100' high with a big pool for a swim underneath. Very refreshing on a warm day! The "trek" to the lower falls is an easy 10 minute walk. Visitors staying on Matangi or Qamea Islands can easily do this on a day trip to Taveuni.
Tavoro's middle fall is a fairly strenous walk for another 45 minutes, while the upper fall can be only reached by a challenging hike through the rainforest. Don't miss the fabulous views on the trek between the lower and middle falls.
- Scuba Diving and Snorkeling -
Taveuni, Vanua Levu, Matangi and Qamea Islands are surrounded by coral reefs.
Snorkeling and SCUBA diving in these warm aquamarine waters is one of the highlights of a trip to North Fiji.
Experts rave about Fiji's clear water, colorful corals and amazing fish life. Whether you are experienced or new to the sea, the resorts in North Fiji and Taveuni can tailor a "beneath the sea" experience for you with SCUBA or snorkeling lessons or even a week's dive package for your experienced group.
- Waitabu Marine Park -
Waitabu Marine Park, off the north coast of Taveuni Island, contains a Marine Protected Area ideal for snorkeling. This park resulted form an agreement of 7 Fijian communities not to fish or anchor in a 1km section of Taveuni's fringing reef.
Guided snorkeling tours including snorkeling equipment, refreshments, local musicians and a ride on a Bilibili, a traditional Fijian raft bring a small amount of tourism income to the community of Waitabu. The trip is best done around a morning high tide
Established in 1998, the park has already produced dramatic results. Yearly, the community of Waitabu conducts marine surveys according to the Reef Check survey guidelines with the assistance of a local tropical marine biologist.
